Hi guys looking to bye a new rifle deer/coyote .I like the 700 sps youth 20 inch bbl a little shorter stock.it will be a 243.would like some input on this rifle or other simalar rifles.thanks

It's a 700 with a rough finish and shorter barrel and stock. At $550 it was a great deal. But unless your left handed I'd go for the full sized SPS.

I am 5.6 tall the stock is a good fit. I hunt mostly forested ground 100yd shoots would be long shoots.
Should work fine. Get it bedded and trigger done. Add a 2x7 and give'er.

I'd be more tempted to use a 7/08 if the shots are as close as you say and it would be more versatile for heavier game if the need be.

.

I own a 600 Rem .308 thats killed its share of deer. looked at the 7mm08 it doesn,t offer the versatily in bullet weights that the 243 would for coyotes.I handload and would like to shot a bullet under 75gr.

If that stock fits, I'd definitely go for it. It's a nice little rifle. Put Talley LW's and a Leupold 2-7X33 along with bedding and a trigger job and rule the world.:D

I picked up one in .308 for my wife to use. It doesn't fit me at all, but I added a little padding in the jacket so I could do some load development with it. Nice, light handling rifle, great for the bush...I think its around 7.5lbs with a 4x Leupold...

The only other one I looked at for her was a Savage youth model, but it didn't come in .308. That said, you could buy any wood or laminate stocked rifle and have it cut to fit you, and the barrel bobbed...
