Hi all,
I recently bought a brand new Rem 700 tactical in .308 win. As it comes with a cheap rubber stock, I bought it thinking I would put it in a stock I have loose which belonged to a Rem 700 Police ( It is a better quality HS precision stock ). Same barrelled action ( only barrel shorter ) right? Well it fits and screws in nice and all but there is a problem: The little button for taking the bolt off is stuck and the trigger does not work properly. When I put the barrelled action back in its cheap rubber stock, all works well.
Any advise to me? Should I bring it to a gunsmith for proper fitting ?

Thanks

Gilbert

Find out where the bolt release and trigger mechanism are making contact with the HS stock. Should be an easy fix. If you don't want to tackle it, take it to a competent smith.

All right gents,
I shall try delicately removing some of the material.
I'll keep you posted.

mine use to get stuck on the right side where the saftey lever goes down into the stock
the x-mark pro is wider there ,,u need to grind out a bigger cavity....
in the HS it meant taking sum alluminum out ...
compare the two stocks
