I have been looking at the rem 700 xcr in a .300 wm or .300 rum. Does any one have one of these? Or own one in another calibre? Do you like or dislike the rifle?

thanks shotgun1

Friend just bought one in 338. I've handled them before and they are a decent rifle from what I can tell.

I'm not a fan of the SPS stock, nor the XCR stock.....but thats just me. I'm not really a fan of many 'factory' stocks....

Overall, its a nice rig from what I can tell. There was a really good deal on a 300WM not long ago on the exchange, but its gone now. It was an absolute steal of a deal.....

IMO........the only real diff between the XCR and the Plain Stainless SPS is the rubber grip areas added to the Factory SPS Plastic stock.
Of course the XCR has some kind of "coating" on the stainless to make it "more" weather resistant ??? But I've never rusted up a Stainless rifle yet ;)

Again IMO.......buy the Plain Stainless SPS for nearly 1/2 the $'s and save the extra Bucks for a Good scope or even better a stock upgrade, you'd be miles ahead of the XCR

What BCWILL said.

SPS+ McMillan + Leupold= :D :D
XCR + Tupperware= :( :(

Unless you have a lot of other guns the 300 Win should be your choice.

There isn't a hunting shot that the Ultra will make that the Win. will not.

Good Luck!

I have an XCR and i really like it ,but the plastic stock is crap.I put on a wooden stock,i think it looks good.the fancy coating will have to stand the test of time yet.

I had 2. If I had to do it all over, i'd go with a SPS, have it bead blasted and put a real stock (HS, Mcmillan). As for the coating, it looks gold. Too much bling bling for me.

If you're gonna spend the $$ on the XCR, you might as well get the .338WM, which is not available in the regular SPS.

thanks

I will have to take a look at the sps and compare. I don't currently own a rifle and would like only one for hunting. So I am still looking for the right one. I would prefer to stay with the rem 700 line as well.
