I am cursed as the drunken Canadian (Irish descent) lefthand shooter. I have owned several Remington 700 lefthand varmint rifles, today at Ellwood Epps I purchased a lefthand bolt Remington 700P LTR in .308!!!!! Anybody know the skinny these? I spoke to the Remington factory rep at the SHOT show for the last three years asking for a lefthand Police series, LTR if possible. They said it would never happen, too few demand for the LE market. I can't find it on their website. Anybody??????? This is definitely a legit rifle, not some frankengun, it is new in the box and marked. Anybody know when they appeared?

God Bless Special Runs

Thanks ATR for the update. Epps just received it July 03. It was a total fluke that I ran across it, I had pretty much given up any hope of LH production in the Police line from Remington based on their comments at the SHOT Show. Now If I wish hard enough like I did for this, do you think Knights will distribute a $3000.00 SR25 in Canada!!!!!!!:) LOL
I'll post a report after shooting on the smothness and quality of the LH.
Cheers Troops,

Cursed nothing. We are the 'Enlightened Ones'.

You're right, there's next to nothing out there on this rifle. I have a Remi 700 SPS Varmint LH in 308 that I want to chop the barrel down to 20" or just replace it and re-stock. I love the look and balance of the 20" barrel.

Let us know how it works for you.

Left-handers of the (shooting) world, Unite!

Picked it up tonight

Hi Troops,
Have it in hand. I will scope it up over the weekend and try to get it out to the range for a run. Everything looks good out of the box. Very smooth (but still dry) action. Pretty much a carbon copy of my 700VS. I do like the light weight, shorter barrel and stock. This would be an excellent "social work" rifle on duty. The paint/finnish on the stock looks a little bit rushed compared to the "web" finsh on the VS but durable and matte as you would expect in a "tactical" rifle. I don't anticpate anything out of the ordinary from a Rem 700 series but it sure is nice to have a lefty.:)
Cheers,
Pete

i don't understand the hype around LH weapons.
I might be wrong but I take my southpaw as a blessing in right handed firearms.
exemples with my firearms:
SA revolver: loading gate is on your loading hand side, no turning the gun over as if you were right handed.

semi-auto and botl actions: let it be bench rest or off hand, having the bolt on the right hand side makes it perfect in my opinion. And right handers should get left handers!
Keeping my trigger hand at all times around the trigger and the support hand cocking the action, the gun is always ready to shoot. No more f**kin around turning the gun one side then the other.

I got 1 left handed firearm, my little savage 22 and I hate it.

charles:

Operating a RH bolt with my left hand drives me nuts.

There are very few examples were the firearm favors us southpaws.

Trust me, when you start using a LH bolt rifle, you'll wonder how you ever did without!

(FYI, I only own one firearm that's RH - a #1mk.3 sporter.)

my savage is a LH bolt, dislike it! on the field or on the bench

out of 6, the only firearm I own and don't feel comfortable with it being RH my 1911, and it's not THAT annoying
only other thing I know for sure is bad for LH are the double action revolvers

I can't stand shooting RH firearms, bolt actions esp. Just goes to show ya, it's all personal preference.

Isn't that the truth, the only way I could be MORE clumsy than shooting a left handed rifle would be if my hands were on upside down and I had 3 more thumbs. I am not sure if I could be any more right handed.
That being said I really love my right bolt left port actions:D
