rem 721

I have a superb 223 target rifle on a 721. I competed with it for one year and loved it. Only stopped using it because of a rule change.

It was trued up a bit. Don't recall if we used a Remington trigger or a Canjar.

A 721 is just fine. The only drawback at all is the weak and unavailable extractor. Other than that, it's just like a 700. Regards, Bill.

Leeper, if the 721 uses the rivited style extractor, a company did make them as I picked one up a few years back. Should still be available. Check with Brownells.

Would a Rem700 trigger group work in the 721?

Jerry

The 721 does not use a riveted style extractor. The 721 extractor is unique to the 721-722 actions. It is a snap in with a smaller hook than the 700 extractor. One can make the 700 extractor work; sometimes. The 700 trigger does fit but the receiver must be modified to clear the safety lever. A Shilen trigger utilizing the factory safety lever will work fine. Regards, Bill.
