Rem 742/7400/760/7600 pistol grip plastic cover

Just wondering, I'm doing over an ol 742 and wondering if/how to remove the black plastic cover on bottom of pistol grip?
I'm guessing its glued on?
Any help be great Thanks

I believe they use the same bonding agent as the ebony tip and heel cap on the 700 BDL (some kind of epoxy).As far as the heel cap goes,there is a very good chance you'll break it trying to remove it. If you can tape it up and work around it, you're better off going that route.

Well, Remington must have used just a pinch of pigeon sh!t on my 11-87 because it fell off while hunting and is now gone. Any way to get a replacement. Thinking of putting a screw through the one on my 7600, just so it doesn't happen again.

No visable screw nope.
Thx guys! That's what I'm planning on doing, just work around it

It's not a high strength adhesive. You can warm it well with a heat gun and then carefully pry it off.
Re-install with hot melt.
