So recently i got a 7600 in 270. It shoots great and functions nicely except for one major hiccup. It wont eject live cartridges. Its not the ejector i dont think, because it will spit out fired shells with no problem. it looks like the unfired shells get hung up on a small peice near the ejection port. I wonder if it is OAL of the cartridges or if it is something with teh gun. Cartridges used were winchester 150 grain pp's. They were factory not reloads. Any suggestions as to what it is and how i can fix it.

In my 7600s the ejection port limits the COAL often whereas the mag box and throat will allow a longer COAL. One port allows 3.340" max and another only 3.320". I'm no smith but some have ground away the front edge of the port to lengthen slightly. Maybe the bolt stop needs to allow further movement rearward (???). Or as suggested measure ammo COAL before hand. Since I handload I just seat the bullet to match.

How long a COAL will clear? Are you within .020"?

Am i safe to experiment with different ammo types though. This problem isn't gonna result in any damage to me or my gun. I dont have a caliper, but i would be inclined to say that no its not within .020", although it would be close to that maybe .030-050"

For those with a 7600, the thing that the tip of the bullet is hanging up on is not the actual side of the ejection port, but the little lip on the very front of it on the inside of the receiver. i would try to post a picture but i don't think my camera will take a food enough picture

personaly i wouldn't care...
With my 7600s the problem is you have to fire off the chambered round just to clear the action - if the COAL is too long. So it's not just an inconvenience.
