I recently purchased a Burris FF II 3-9X40 and am trying to decide on how to mount it on my Remington 7600 30-06. I like the idea of being able to use the iron sights in the thick stuff or when set up in a stand for Bear. The see through Mounts would allow both to be used but I think you are sacrificing on both ends. The scope sits high off the boreline which isn't ideal and it feels more cumbersome to use the iron sights, compared to no mounts/scope. What is everyones suggestions recomendations?

I am currently leaning towards the Leupold QRW Mounts with Weaver Base. Anybody have any other suggestions on brands? What base would you recommend? One Piece or Two? What is the proper Leupold Mount Height for a 46mm Objective with 1" tube Low or Medium?

Have you thought about a red dot? If your shots are going to be 100yds and under it might be a better solution. I unscoped my 760 a few years back due to all the thick hunting conditions and used irons for a couple years before jumping on the red dot bandwagon. Just another angle for you to consider.

I have the same gun and I went with Weaver base with Weaver see-thru rings. The iron sights are easily seen, and makes target aquisition really quick. You're right about the scope being a bit high, but you get used to it pretty quick. I've fired mine out to 600yrds and the accuracy is still fine. (some people go on about how high rings throw accuracy way off.)
