What year did they stop making the 20 gauge on a 12 gauge frame and make it on it's own frame??

I know the large frame was produced into the 70's atleast.

HI:
The 20 ga large frame 870 in 2 3/4 started production in 1950 with the 3" in 1962. The 1st light weight 20ga were available in 1969 but limited.
Some will say the last large frame 20ga was produced in 1977 but they continued the "X" serial number until 1979.
So the way I read it was X in 79 or N in 77. I also have a new large frame 20ga with a 78 date so 77 was definately not the last year
