Rem 870 Express vs Browning BPS Hunter

Im thinking about purchasing either a Remington 870 express or Browning BPS Hunter for my first shotgun. 12 gauge, with 26" barrel.

Can anyone tell me some of the differences between these shotguns. I am just getting into shooting and would like to know which of these would be considered better quality/value for the money. The Remington is about $350 and Browning seems to be around $550.

Any tips or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

IMHO the browning has a better finish, metal and wood , therefore a better looking gun ,the workmanship quality is higher and an all round higher quality gun, hence the difference in price. the browning also has bottom load and eject, so it can accomodate left handed shooters.lots will disagree, but for me the $200.00 difference is worth it to get the browniing
 
Having owned both, the browning is definitely better in finsih anf it and in all likely hood better quality. The only advantage of the Remington is accessories you can modify the remmy anyway you like als the Remington is a little faster to load single rounds should that be an issue.

The quality of the BPS would be comparable to the Remington Wingmaster.

I liked the tang safety and the bottom eject and I never had to repair the BPS. My 870 needed repair right from the box.
 
I have a 28 gauge Remington Model 870 Express and a 28 gauge Browning BPS.Of the two I perfer the Remington.The BPS has better finish than the Express and would be better to compare it to the Wingmaster.

For myself I find the BPS a little long in the stock and heaiver than the Express.

Long in the stock is an easy fix... heavier, is a bit harder to fix though.
