rem 870 question?

So I purchased the rem 870 express 12g 28" barrel 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells, comes with screw in mod choke. My question is what is this barrel ideal for? and what else can i use it for?

That's a great barrel. I have 2 of them. I use it for waterfowl and skeet. The choke you can change to suit your uses. Likely more open for clay shooting but that depends on what works for you.

870 is a workhorse. Just gets the job done. Not really a pretty or smooth gun, but it never fails.

Use the modifed choke for waterfowl with steel shot at extended range. Swap it out for an improved cylinder for thick cover grouse or clays. Put in a turkey choke to kill a tom. Put in a rifled choke tube matched with a scope for a great deer gun. Or just use the modified tube with rifled slugs with the same scope. Good enough use for that barrel?
