Can anyone help me. I own a Remington 870 Special Purpose model. Were these models built better than the 870 Expresses. I bought mine as a turkey gun almost 10 years ago. It has a dull bead blasted finish like the Express models. Did I just pay extra for the Special Purpose model stamped on the receiver or is it a better gun than the Express?

It is a better version from what I know. Machined similar to the Wingmaster with the exception of the dulled finish which I think is a different finish from that on the Express.

If you want to sell the gun, I am interested.

I was told by the guys at Epps that the SP guns were parkerized. I'm not sure that is the case, but whatever it is the finish is definitely better looking and more dependable than the "black paint" used on the Express guns.

Don't worry Supercub, I am still gonna harass the crap out of you. I know yours has a 26" barrel!!!!!!!!!!!

SELL, SELL, SELL, SELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi ,
I have a SPS in black and it appears to be powder coated instead of paint . I have had mine for about 14-15 years and love it I also picked up the rifle sight deer barrel with chokes which makes for a nice dogging gun .

Here's my 26" SP. I switched the synthetic stock for a walnut police job.

Supercub ,nice pic , nice dog have got an 8 month old chocolate sitting beside me, was out last night he never missed a bird, rounds me out black ,yellow ,golden retriever and now the brown bomber.....:p :p :p lolol

Yes very nice picture of the gun and the pooch...Im glad to hear the SP is a better gun than the Express. Mine is the 21 inch turkey model. It has the double bead barrel with super full choke. The 21 inch barrel is great for upland game,bunnies etc. It handles great in the woods.

Hi Waterfowler ;
Gee a prybar eh? I don't know it might be too big for me:D .I don't think I am going to let go of my 870 eventhough I was at Gagnons looking at a Stoeger M200 with 3 barrels with lust in my eye and no $$ in my pocket . I just kept telling myself that the 870 never jams and I don't need another shotgun.

I will let you know if the devil on my other shoulder wakes up and starts talking to me.

take care
James
