Two part question, figured one thread will do for both instead of starting too. I'm 90% handgun guy so don't frequent/post in this section much, sorry if these are basic questions.

1) I have an Rem 870 "Tactical Magnum". 20" 7 +1 rounds, that looks identical to the one in pic below except for the raised beed. mint with 25 rounds thru. what would be a reasonable max value? I have an idea but wanted to check.

2) if I wanted to do get a shorter 12-14 in barrel are there any more affordable options than Dlask $250 barrel? would DA barrel fit?

thanks

A DA barrel will install and work, but the sights will be out of index by a few degrees. Also, any barrel without a pedestal will shoot about 4 to 6 inches too high at 25 meters. A possible solution is to send the gun to someone like Tactical Ordnance and have them solder on a pedestal. They can then correct the out of index issue at the same time to index properly for a Remington receiver by putting the sight at top dead centre. You can even have them install choke tubes at the same time, which I would recommend.

Or you can look for a 14" Remington barrel. HiCal.ca may have some in stock, but you have to call.
