Rem core lock's

Make sure they feed OK. One of my Enfields, and one of my buds have a tendency to jam up feeding the Rem RN bullets. If you can make them feed they're accurate, and certainly take lots of Moose.

Good luck on the hunt.

Thanks for the tip Dangertree, i cycled a few rounds tonite after work and found that after the first round, alot were getting snagged on the way into the breech , causing slight disformation of the tips, is this what you meant? And is this because of the length or just design?

Some guns just prefer a pointed bullet to guide the shell in the chamber.
I've also seen guns that didn't like pointed bullets, they would catch on the chamber rim, a round nose worked fine on the other hand. Ever type of rifle has it's on set of likes & dislikes & some are diff between individual rifles even.

It should be noted that the Remington Core-Lokt comes in different bullet types for different calibers. The .303 British stuff is exclusively Soft Point (SP), which is more rounded. I've used the .30-06 Pointed Soft Point (PSP) Rem Core-Lokt ammunition for moose hunting many times, and it's always performed well, both for accuracy and terminal performance.

That's exactly it. The round nose makes contact with the feed ramp and hangs up, can make getting a second shot off a bit of a challenge. Federal have some pointier bullets in 303, the name escapes me right now.

My buddies No.1 jams up as bad as a LE can with these, my No.5 feeds them pretty well.

Cheers

I shot my bragging shot with a Remington M788 in .308 fitted with a Bushnel/Banner 4x scope fitted with a BDC. I was using Remington 150 grain Core Lokt. I was hunting on the prairies and only able to get within 450 yds. I got into the prone, snuggled up to the stock, dialed into 450 and gently squeezed. 6 pointer (each side) mulie buck, 1 shot, heart shot! He went straight down. I never started out hunting season unless I had fired a minimum of 200 rds in practice for that year. It is a very accurate, hard hitting bullet, providing that you do your part, you won't require a 2nd shot.

But damn they dont wanta cycle so i fired a box of em single shot, lol,On the way back i stopped by the Crappy tire and got some good ol depenable winchesters, wish there was more of an option for 303 in my area, What are some of the better producers?

Thanks

Federal powershok in 180 grain speer hot core is my new fav i find it is outperforming the winchesters and comparing the 2 the federals seem to be much better quality

Core Lokt should be fine for moose. I have used the Rem's in my .303 without too much problems (occasional rub of the lead) and have used SPEERS RN 180gr. without any problems. Feeding pointy bullets still seems to work better in the action but that's my rifle.

I have many deers with the Core-Lokt and had pass trough for most of them at different range. My hunting buddy uses 30-06 with 180gr PSP Core-Lokt for moose and they perform well for him. Some dislike them, some don't but based on either positive or neg experiences.

The only bad story I have heard was when usind the Core-Lokt 130gr in a .270win. that pushed a tinybit too fast but in general, the CL possess a good reputation. Might not be the best bullet out there but it will surely do the job.

Good luck
