I'm considering putting together a .22-250 using a Rem M700 DM SA Right hand action. Of course the DM magazine / system is designed for the .243 , 7mm-08, .308 cartridge.

I was wondering if I could make this work for the .22-250 (slight tapered walls) from the parent .243/7mm-08 factory SPS DM rifle.

Any experts out there who have experienced this? We might be stepping on to uncharted ground / waters here. Would be an interesting experiment. :D I've always wanted a cheaper DM system for my earthpig hunting safari adventures.

Happy St. Paddy's Day and

Great news. I received my M700 SPS DM and replaced the barrel with another SPS .22-250 barrel. Believe it or not the, .243 barrel unscrewed so easily (no Loctite or goofy factory Krap on threads) and the .22-250 headspaced perfectly with the .22-250 GO Gauge. :D Won't close on the NO-GO gauge. :) So life is perfect.

Then taking some dummy made up rds of .22-250, I loaded up the Rem M700 factory detachable magazine and everything fed perfectly from the factory magazine. Wow! Life is fantastic! There... Now I have my magazine fed dedicated earth pig gun.

Next week, I will drop in my switch barrel prepared .308 SPS barrel that's been cut down and crowned by my guardian angel gunsmith! ;) You know who you are... warmest thanks

Will get back to you then with this switch barrel project. In the meantime, I gotta pack my Rav4 for tomorrow's Service CQB clinic at Base Borden. :dancingbanana:

Cheers,
Barney
