HI all,

Well after reading all the negative comments from a lot of people that have NEVER used the rifle before and many more comments that liked it after shooting it I went and bought a new 710 in 7mm with scope and mount... lol

Shooting 150g Rem Core Lokts I managed pretty decent groups at 100 ( about 1.5 inches-2.0 inches) and at 200 i was about 3 inches on 3 shots so pretty good. ( ive never been to a range before AND never fired a rifle other than a 3030 in the bush once or twice)

Recoil wasnt bad at all( i do have a couple nice bumps from the scope though :) Less recoil than my 12 gauge shooting sabots !!

2 other guys were at the range with 710 in 270 and 300 wm ... They both are very happy with it and shoot tight groups with ease .

It seems its a decent rifle for the price for a hunter to only hunts a couple weeks a year like myself....

Bring on the 710 flamers !

good lord.

how much did you pay...

you realize that you're gonna get about ten negative posts to this topic for every positive, right? (optimistic guess)

Sure, the 710 will put as much meat in the freezer as any other rifle, but it's a cheaply made gimmick IMO. Owners who say they are great guns surely are convincing themselves that that is in fact the case. Anyone who has a hint of gun experience will tell you to avoid these rifles.

Oh well, gotta start somewhere I guess. Hope that cheap Bushnell doesn't stop all the hair on your eyebrows from growing.

o i knew most would be negative but i dont care.... should be fine for me... Id rather spend $400 than $800 right now anyways

I shot from a rest on a bench !

Take it back to the range and shoot it offhand a bit. Simulate a hunting situation, by shooting at a paper plate, working the action and shooting 2 more times into the plate.

Do that a few times, and get back to us. :D Who knows, you may have gotten lucky!

a buddy has one, he likes it. says he bought it so that he can take it out and not worry about beating the sh*t out of it.

why would someone want to beat the #### out of a rifle, no matter what the cost :|

maybe i phrased that wrong.

he likes to take it out when the weather is bad.

if you are happy with it that is all that matters . hope things work out for ya for your up & coming deer hunt

Sure am.... 200 yards out I can hit within 3 inches.... all i know the deer is dead :)

If i ever all of a sudden get rich and can hunt big game all the time then i will be upgrading forsure ! Till then 710 it is ;)

Im on a budget rigt now and had to sell all my guns to pay for police college. I was looking at the 710 also, for just the same reason. Cheap, has a scope and will put meat in the freezer. I ended up spending an extra $150.00 and bought a synthetic 7400 in 270 win. Im actually very happy with it. It's accurate with no feed problems and doesnt kick hardly. As I said I was going to get a 710 though but I worked the action a few times in the store and thought otherwise. Good luck with it though. If your like me this rifle only comes out a couple times a year and I'm no sniper so I dont need a premium rifle, just one that shoots decent out to a couple hundered yards. Your 710 will do that. That said, I miss the hell out of my Browning Bar, but I sold it for a good purpose and the remington will fit the bill for now, as will yours Im sure.

Hey as long as a guy is happy. I understand that there are people out there that buy Hyundais and Ladas to drive and they do get around most of the time. I can assure you I would not be caught dead in 1 however. Not wanting to sound like a snob, but if all I could get was 1.5 " 3 shot groups from a rifle of current make, I would want my money back. For $40.00 many an old Enfield can do that and you have lots of $$ left for the ammo.
Sparky, when you sold you BAR you were probably able to get a decent return on the original investment, with a 710 you won't

Ya I got a great price for the BAR. And I agree with you totally about the enfield now that you mention it. It's a rugged piece of kit. My dad took a moose with one. Iron sights too. When I was a kid, enfields and Ross rifles were a mainstay at our hunting camp. I tried hunting with a Jungle Carbine in my early teens(Thought it was manly), but nearly blew my shoulder off when I tried to shoot it. I was only 140 lbs at the time and wouldn/t let anyone tell me how to handle a rifle. Had a nice bruise as a result.
