A question for all Remington rifle historians out there.....I recently acquired a Rem. M720 carbine, .30-06, 20" bbl., serial #402XX. I know a little bit about it....mfg. in 1941, issued to Massachusetts State Police. It has an aluminum floorplate and trigger guard, both painted black. Does anyone know if the rifle came stock that way or have these components been replaced?

The 720 has been referred to as "The Caddilac of the Enfields"...afterall it is a modified M17 Enfield action. Remington built about a 1/4 million M17's and after the 1st war they continued to produce the rifle as a sporter with a few changes as the Model 30....then the most updated version, the Model 720....very few were built. I think the hinged floorplate is original,. although I haven't seen a 720 but I did own a nice Model 30S once....it's on my list of "Guns I should have Kept"
