rem sps vs stevens 200 in 22-250?

Good question.............The Stevens right out of the box is good for right around the 1 inch mark + - at 100......The remington probably not that far behind......I LOVE the price of the Stevens but I LOVE the look of the remington.........tough choice...........then theres the weatherby vanguard.......sigh

Personally, I'd spend the extra $150 and get the Remington... ;) :)

I would have said the same thing three months ago, but no longer. I have had two of the Stevens for a while now, a 300 Win mag and a 223, and they both shoot under an inch right out of the box. The 223 shoots half inch groups every time I take it to the range!

Buddy of mine bought three of these for his boys for Christmas, a 223, 7mm mag and a 300 mag. We were at the range today with one of them and his 223 shot half inch groups with Wally World white box Winchester 45 gr factory ammo. :D

Nope, it would be the Stevens for me, and I would put the $150 saved into better glass for the rifle.

I'd go with the stevens. Had my doubts at first but got one in 7mm 08 and she shoots under an inch outta the box with a 4x38 weaver on top. For $480 with scope couldn't ask for a better deal.

I have a Rem SPS in 300 Ultra Mag and it will shoot MOA right out of the box.The thing I like about the SPS over the Stevens is the drop floorplate and the nice big Recoil pad.But the Stevens is a very good buy also, tough choice.Pick the one that you like they will both shoot.

Im with River Rat, I had a SPS in a .270 and it easily shot MOA. The SPS looks better, has a better recoil pad plus it has the option of converting it to a clip fed magazine.
Don't make yourself look cheap shooting a Savage product:D

Cheers!!

Rem SPS vs Stevens 200...

And don't think for one minute that I'm knocking the Stevens 200 rifles because I think they are exceptional value for the money... but where are you going to get a nice wood stock for one at a reasonable price? You can get nice take-off BDL, CDL and/or Classic wood stocks for the Remington 700 SPS's... plus a myriad of after-market stocks, too [HS Precision, Hogue, etc]... ;)

I feel cheap every time I handle my 788 and it is known as one of Remington's finest....I wonder if I look cheap as well with it?

I never get this feeling when I have a Savage or a Browning in my hands!:p

I'm in agreement.

I've got a Stevens 223 and one in 30-06. The 223 shot well right off the bat, although I am still going to experiment with some more loads with it. Still, I am getting lots of sub 1 inch groups.

The 30-06 was ridiculously easy to work up a load for. Using 180 gr Accubonds, I think I fired about 12 rounds to zero and work up a load. When the last 5 shots (3 differnt powder charges) all prety much fell into less than an inch, I quit, loaded up the rest of the box of Accubonds and that's it.

The 30-06 is a truck gun, so no need to do any further load work with it. Besides, a 180gr Accubond will pretty much do wahtever a 30-06 should be called up on to do.;)

The stocks are ugly, so I painted them ,a nd they look great now. They already come pillar bedded, and they are accurate enough that I am not going to bother glass bedding them.

.223 was $320, the 30-06 was $300. Good value.:)

Some of the paint jobs you guys have done to your Stevens have been fabulous, makes me wish you guys lived near Edmonton so I could get my 25-06 done that pretty. Love my cheap looking Stevens, put a limb saver de-resonator on my gun and you can get them holes to touch one another at 100 meters, Cheers to good quality inexpensive firearms!!

"rem sps vs stevens 200 in 22-250?"

From what I can tell the Stevens only comes with a 22" pipe. This may not harvest the full potential out of the extra powder burned in a 22-250 so you may be better of with a 223.

Remington factory triggers are pretty decent and can be adjusted down to a crisp ~ 2 lbs.

Stevens has a blind magazine which is only a preference issue.

Boyd's are cool but don't you have to final fit & finish them off yourself?

So? ;) That's not a rocket science...:)
You can practice on a 2x4 :p
On a serious note I don't think it is that hard..... careful and slow, did one stock and it looks not too bad at all.
