Rem vs Savage

Thank you for all your feedbacks. By no means I don't want to you guys to go through any ordeal trying to judge rem or savage. I have rem700 myself and I'm very pleased with it but I had nothing to say when my friend asked my opinion on savage as a alternative to my rem700. Yes, I understand that it all comes down to personal preferences but it seems to me that more pro and semi-pro shooters prefer rem700 to savage. IMHO.
Furthermore, there mast be a reason why such highly reputable company as AI makes stocks only for rem700. I also do not recall seeing Jewell triggers for savage.
On the other hand, savage allows average Joe, with very little tools and just a common sense in mechanic change barrels in the comfort of his house.
Too bad, non of guys I know have savage. I would be nice to be able to take one a part and see how they are made.

i own both... a rem with a krieger barrel ( thanks ian) and a savage ft/r . true i have more cash into the rem, but it is not even in the same league as the savage. the rem shoots 1/2" at 300 yards ALWAYS and the savage will shoot 3/4 " some days and 2" on other days. the savage still is a good shooter no doubt, it just depends how serious you want to be. once the action work is done on the rem action you have it for the rest of your life, old barrel out, new in... brand new deadly accurate gun. the savage will get you into the game for a decent price, and i will admit are consistently more accurate than the rems out of the box, but at the end of the day look what is on the firing line and learn from that, if it isn't a custom action then there is a pretty good chance that it will be a rem. my 2 cents

That is what I'm also talking about!!! Thank you for your feedback.
I'm in no way prejudice and do not want to say anything bad about savage but if one has $4K and wants to put together really nice rig - Rem is the way to go.
The only better option available is to go with AI but it is completely different game and totally different budget.

i would also like to add a note about the trigger. i have a timney trigger ( not the best, but within my budget) set at 1 1/2 lbs, my savage trigger is about 1 lb. yet the timney is miles ahead of the savage accutrigger, in quality of pull and reliability. one thing a lot of people fail to mention when talking about the accutrigger is how sensitive they are. close the bolt too hard and it fails, you then have to lift the bolt handle and reset the trigger. not really a big deal once you get used to it but a pain non the less. once again the savage is ahead of everyone out of the box, but when you go to " step up" your game your choices for replacement of the savage are somewhat limited. you have to compare apples to apples, out of the box the savages are good...no question. but the best at everything they are not. the ft/r package has no competition for the dollars spent, 30" pipe, solid stock, pillar bedded, stiff single shot action, and a fine trigger. but keep in mind each and every piece can be done better....for a price.

Thank you everybody for your input, feedbacks and opinions. My friend is convinced and has decided to go with inevitable rem. :)
