looking to put a scope on this gun, shots in the thick bush, max out to about 100 yards, i also don't need a hit in the pocket book. thanks again

Hows , an accurate sighting device, that is far better and faster than open sights. Added bonus , you can see stuff at dusk, and more clearly.:D ;)
Look on the exchange forum, for 4x and less, or 2x7 etc, something low, think SC got a 1-4 leupold on ee, lots around.

Put a red dot on it.Very fast to get on target.I think you can get a new Bushnell with 4 reticles and red/green colorr changes for $150 or less.

A Bushnell 3200 1.5x4.5 would be perfect.

Or ...... Williams makes a reciever sight for that rifle. Almost perfect!

Make sure you get something that is well built, not bottom line econoscopes. My 7400 .280 rem trashed two Bushnell Legends, a tasco world class and a Bushnell buckhorn in very short order. And no, there were NO problems with rings or mounts. As it was explained to me, the slamming of the spring-loaded bolt during cycling delivers energy which is independent of the recoil shock, sort of like the recoil of a powerful air rifle. Rattled every one of those scopes so they would not hold a zero. I have a 3200 elite on it now and it works fine. A Leupy or burris Fullfield II would also be a good choice. Good optics are not only durable, but you see better and can shoot better. My .280 can shoot moa with my handloads. Not bad for a clunky inaccurate autoloader. Good luck!

Try looking at the Leupold VX II 1-4X20 $450.00 Nice scope for hunting thick cover where shots are most often well under 75 yards. If you want to spend Less $$ the Burris Fullfield II 1.75-5X20mm are nice for about $250.00These two scopes have a wide FOV and good eye relief for the magnum rifles. These scope are also very compact. I hope this helps. Tikka

Have 2 of these Remington autoloaders ... both purchased used....one circa 1967 in 30/06....one 1975 in .308........with handloads , can keep the first 3 shots at one inch / 100yds......

Have not experienced the "trashing" of scopes via bolt recoil and mine typicaly carry inexpensive 3-9 X Bushnells'........leave them on 3x while in the thick stuff and timber.....at $55-$80 they have lasted decades and owe me nothing if they finally break down........if you want to spend more by all means get the "best"........however to not take a hit in the "pocketbook" as you stated.....inexpensive works for me.

hs4570.......your mileage may vary
