Reading up on these and was wondering a couple of things

1) Are they as accurate as a regular barrel that is fully fitted by a smith.
2) Is there substantial cost savings ?

I also been wondering this,

I know the savage prefit barrels are as accurate as a shouldered gunsmith fitted barrel, my savage can attest to that.

Now I wonder is the smith does a bolt alignment of some sort with the barrel before fitting it?
As my actions I have had (savage and dealine) and my futur action soon to be in the mail (bighorn) all use a floating bolthead, vs a rem having a 1 piece bolt.

I don't think there is much cost savings, myself was more for the commodity of having my spare barrels ready to change in a few minutes at any moments notice.
I know this can be done with shouldered if gunsmith has you action specs, but still, any of my barrels can interchange on any of my actions, I like the idea.

What is the approximate cost range to have a blank barrel chambered, fitted etc... to an action ?

Threaded, chambered, installed, $150 - $400, depending on who does it.
Then there are other costs related to finish, muzzle treatment, etc.

#1.. that really depends on the condition and alignment of your action. If true (many new ones are excellent, many recent old are meh), then it works great.... But if the action is wonky and needs to be blueprinted, then the cost advantage of the Remage is lost.

#2 Yes, the cost of a remage can be as little as 1/2 the cost of a gunsmith install.

Accuracy, if the action lock up is square and solid, then the target will not know if the headspace was controlled by a nut or shoulder.... at least to the 1/4 MOA range.

Ideally, you would choose an action designed for barrel nut prefit match barrels. Depending on your end goals, Savage or the Rem 783 would be my choices in the factory donor world. There are an ever growing list of custom actions that can support barrel nut prefits. I could offer you a Deadline.

If you were building a varminting rifle and want to use a Rem 700 and a Remage prefit, go for it. I have had alot of positive feedback from customers with this end use goal.

But for competition, I would start with a review of the receiver and decide from there.

Remage barrels are great don't hesitate I'm running a few and don't see any difference from a shouldered fit the nuts also use the same wrench as a savage , I did one in 6.5 Creedmoor and one in 223 no issues .

The nice thing about a remage is it will fit on any gun if you decide to sell it try that with a shouldered barrel and you practically have to give it away .

How many people are honestly selling barrels? And who wants to buy a used barrel?

I imagine that's a very, very small market.

I have seen many prefits sell on here, you don't see them for long as they go out fast.
Myself have sold 3 prefits, factory unshot Savage barrels when i'd use a Savage action for a donor, they all went out the door under 24 hours!

You're right.

New factory take-offs sell for modest prices, which vary according to the perceived usefulness of the barrel. Rarely will the asking price exceed $150; $50 - $100 is more common.
Chap buys a new factory rifle for the action, sells the barrel and stock. The new take-off barrel is an inexpensive way to make up a hunting rifle.
A used take-off? A real pig-in-a-poke. There is a reason it was taken off.
Take-off barrels may be attractive to home shop gunsmiths and experimenters who do their own lathe work. I fitted a barrel extension to a take-off Savage .223 1-9 sporter barrel and set it up on an AR. It has been a very good shooting service rifle.
