Remember When: AKM

$590 seems pretty high for 88'. I don't know much about prices of guns in 1988, considering I was 1, but they seem to be going for around $800 in the States currently.
Did Canadian dealers gouge the firearm community then too?

I wonder if these thing were even possible to get in the USA during the Cold War. Or did everyone have to pony up for a Valmet?

I still have my original bill for the Hungarian AK some where. In the late 80's cost me around 700 dollars.it was lots of money then.

That WAS expensive - those were the expensive "premium" ones, and that mag price was insane. I got a NR (longer barrel) Chinese AK from Lever for less than $400, the mags were $30. He had 5 rounders for "hunting" too. Your choice of stock. Most of the ones Lever sold were built on the LMG receiver, so they were a bit more solid than a lot of the Chinese AKs. Regarding registration - I read somewhere that there are 1500 registered prohib rifles in BC - Lever alone brought in sea cans full of AK's - probably 2 a year, maybe they all went bad? But that doesn't explain what happened to all of the other prohibs he sold - FAL's, virtually all of Israel's M14's, etc. etc.

PS I love the fact that they have a note reminding you that you need an FAC to buy guns, given that you could get one in 24 hours.
