Got my first buck with my 1934 Mosin Nagant. It has a Brass Stacker scope mount and a Bushnell scope.

I was not in the tree stand 5 minutes when this buck came looking for the grunter (me).

nice...always like seein the milsurp hunting photos....love the rifle setup too......i have the older brass stacker on mine with scout scope....lovin it.....!!!congrats brotha!

Congratulations on your first buck. Lots of good meat/memories there.

Back in 1978 International Firearms got in a few hundred M91/30 rifles with WHITE birch stocks without knots or visible grain. All of the rifles were minty with matching numbers on every part. The contrast between the white wood and black metal finish was unique and pleasing. All of the rifles came with dog collar slings and matching bayos with black leather scabbards. Beautiful things. The stocks almost looked like they had been bleached. There was a very thin coat of some sort of clear wax that gave them a matte appearance but they were smooth as butter. I bought two of them. I don't remember what I paid for them but they were very underappreciated back then so it likely wasn't much. I kept those rifles for years without doing anything to them other than making sure they were clean. The way you finished your rifle is similar but the oil in the wood has stained it. Still a nice rifle and buck.

Thx for the story on your rifles... I'd love to see a pic of them !!

As for mine, I use a wood stripper and gently removed the shellac without affecting any of the stamps. I did no sanding whatsoever. Afterwards I applied a few coats of BLO, one coat every 24 hours.

Nice deer! Cool setup!
Thank you very much !!

Is that an East German Field Cap that you're wearing?
Indeed it is... rockin' das DDR !!

My friend and his wife own a surplus store here in Winnipeg so I can get all kinds of milsurp goodies.

Did you use the Lada to haul that bad boy home? (Hopefully strapped to the hood?) :)
Unfortunately not... the Lada needs a new starter... which I have ordered. :)

Alles klar, Herr Kommisar!

Any chance they have more of those DDR Feldmütze in size 59cm? ;)

Hope that venison tastes yummy! I'm trying again to fill my tags these next 2 weekends...
