Not all war graves cemetery's are picturesque but they are all solemn .. You may notice the German graves behind. I have a very old photo of one of the RCR grave sites in Sicily that I will try to find and post later - very austere.
I have a higher definition scan of the original if anyone might wish to have it.

My father was taught when he joined as a private that a soldier had three rights:
The right of redress
The right to court martial, and
The right to a proper burial
