I always check my zero before hunting to ensure that my scope or sight is still on for the hunting season. This year I was close, but decided to adjust the scope two clicks anyway so my POA/POI is where I expect it to be.

Everything was good and I was ready.

Fast forward moose season. And the first week of deer gun season here and over my travels I slipped and fell with both guns.

One landed in leaves, the other landed on a rock.

So before heading out again tomorrow I went to the range to double check.

Low and behold... my red dot on my lever gun (rock) was off 2 inches left and 2 inches high at 50m

I am glad I checked. It is not worth injuring an animal.

Just a reminder to verify if there is any doubt.

Shot my shotgun 2 weeks before the hunt. Was surprised it was shooting 8" low at 50 yards. Got it moved up but had to really adjust the scope about 3x as much as I thought I would.

Just bugged me it was so off since the year before....didnt understand...

2 days before the hunt i was moving guns in my cabinet and when I picked my shotgun I felt a jiggle in the action. After looking closer the action screw were loose in the stock!

So weight of the barrel was causing it to shoot way low. Tightened it all back up and went shooting again. Shot 2 feet high at 50 yards....moved it back down to were it was before the 1st range visit...back to dead on, Only burned about $50 worth of sabot slugs pissing around....lol
