Can someone tell me if the new 750 version of the semi is an improvement over the 7400? Everybody I know with a 7400-742 when asked will admit to it jamming almost regularly. I wonder if they have improved and are as reliable as a BAR?

I'm not hearing good things about them. The 7400 gets a bad rap for jamming which is usually the result of poor maintenance and bad magazines. Once I used a 7600 mag in mine all the feeding problems went away, it is 100% reliable.

I've had both 7400s and 750 in 35whelen. Mine were both reliable feeders. The 750's comb is crazy high to shoot using iron sights supplied. Must be scoped or more like a "flinch-o-matic". Trigger pretty poor on both but OK for big game in the brush I hunt. I like mine - no issues but I keep em clean.

All the guys I moose hunt with went bolt actions. No doubt Remington makes good quality semiautos, but it's the unknown factor re weather and dirt. I does happen in the bush. Bolt strength re getting that second round in is what converted two guys from semiautos. They can be picky re reloaded ammo.
But I do like the look of them and would love to own one.

I have one 750 in 308 carbine and it works well. I do know that the first year of the 750 there was a manufacturing problem with the magazines not locking in, and many were sent back. I have seen alot of people have problems with semi's by being to gentle with them when loading the first shell instead of pulling back the action and letting go of it so the gun can do the work
