Well Remington has brought out a lower cost entry varmint rifle styled after the coyote lite of Winchesters. The stock has three vent ports cut under the barrel in the foregrip as does the Coyote Lite however the stock is the same tupperware they use for the standard SPS models. Its not pillar bedded, aluminum chassis bedded or glass bedded....so its just not bedded at all...which is perfect for high accuracy varmint hunting right? The barrel is varmint contour and blued. I'm thinking that with a trigger job, bedding job or stock replacement say with a hogue it could be a rifle for the feilds in the summer but the addition of stock replacement I'd think the other Remington choices would be better once all things considered.

Any thoughts?

thoughts - it was probably introducted to compete with the lower priced Savage heavy barrel rifles, and thus had to keep to the cost cutting theme. so, cheap stock & poor finish on the barrel and action. I'm sure they'll shoot good, especially once tuned a bit, but who really does that do their rifles

Or you could just buy a Savage and save some money! :p :D

Ya those savages......they shoot, they're cheap....but so dahm ugly! Oh ya we're talking about Remington here fellas. Why wouldn't Remington hook up with hogue or Bell and Carlson and at least stick the SPS in a good platform...the factory tupperware is garbage!

i must be confused as the savage varmint rifle my uncle has came with the crappiest plastic stock i have ever seen outside of a ruger, it would put most canoe paddles to shame
and this is on a heavy barrel stainless 223?

ya but at least they come pillar bedded! As for the cartridges they are coming in...well its 204 Ruger, 223, 22-250 and 308..oh there's a surprise eh!

like I said, the SPS varmint is a entry level heavy barrel varmint rifle. If you want something a bit nicer, you have to spend more $$ and that defeats the purpose of the SPS varmint

Remington is bringing it out.
221 FB necked down w/ a slight shoulder angle change.
Should be a screamer
A predator hunting mag I was reading had a pic of one, looked like a 700LSS.
