Recently acquired a Ruger Old Army revolver. My left over # 11 Muzzle loader caps will fit but don't stay on very well and blow off when fired. Was told the best caps were Remington #10's, trick is can't find any locally.

Is there a source in Ontario? Being caps likely cost a fortune to have shipped.

Anybody else have experience/recommendations on caps for Ruger Old Army?
Alternatively Tesro replacement nipples seem to be popular in the States, are they available in Canada?

I've bought treso nipples from these guys

Have you tried giving your #11's a slight squeeze between your fingers to make them stay on your nipples. I find that this helps to keep them from falling off the unfired chambers.
I have had trouble with worn nipples, with oversized holes, blowing fired primers off and some times even blowing the hammer back. Another good reason to be wearing some sort of eye protection when shooting.KD

Howdy Toller, I've got an old ARmy and use #10 Remington's with very little trouble. They are readily available at Shooters Choice, Al Simmons in Hamilton and a few other places I've been. They are a tiny bit tight. I put them on by hand and then seat them with a 6" piece of 1/4" dowel They don't fall off and go bang every single time. They only drawback is that once in a while they split when I fire them (from being too tight) and sorta tie things up until I shake them out. Not a big deal unless you're on the clock. I've just recently acquired some tresco nipples and am gonna give them a try. Everyone I've talked to swears by them. I did try a cap on them and they seem a little bit loose. Another option would be to reduce the size of the nipples that came with the Ruger I suppose. Experimentation is called for. Like I said, the #10 Remingtons are OK, but not perfect. Gotta have perfect. Anyhow, next time you are south, Shooters Choice should be able to help you with caps. Buy lots. THey don't go bad. Happy trails.
