Remington 11-48

Gentlemen,

I have an older Remigton Model 11-48 that I need some information on. I've only shot this gun once since taking ownership and it was really nice. I bought it originally because I wanted a semi-auto skeet gun to use with friends when out camping or otherwise causing trouble.

However, since I've owned it, the skeet plans have fallen apart (no one I know currently shoots skeet) and I no longer have a per-determined use for this gun. I would like to keep it, as I do think it's a pretty cool gun, but I would instead like to use it as a truck/home/camping defense gun which I figure it would be great for.

The only problem using this gun for that purpose is that the barrel on this thing is huge. I haven't measured it, but it just barely fits in the largest soft case I could fine (50", IIRC) and it's a pain in the ass to store because I have to put it in my safe on an angle and takes up allot of space.

My question is, does anyone know if there are shorter replacement barrels available for this gun? For example, I know that some parts (firing pin, etc) are interchangeable between the 11-48 and 870.

Anyone know if an 870 barrel will fit on the 11-48 model?

The 870 barrel will not fit the 11-48.

Have seen 11-48 barrels at gun shows from time to time.If nothing else you could buy an old clunker with a good barrel and use it for your intended purpose.

the barrel on the 11 48 slides in and out of the recever so i d not think you will be able to use a barrel from an 870 or 1100 feep your eyes open at gun shows DUTCH

Very unlikely you will find a replacement BBl since it hasn't been made since the 50's you may have to shorten the original bll.
