Remington 11-87

I have just acquired a Rem 11-87 from the mid sixties and want to replace the recoil pad. It's rock hard. What screws would have most likely been used? Slotted, Phillips, etc.?

Well 1187 were not built in the 60's perhaps an 1148.

Remington used Philips screws for most of the production era you mentioned.

I'm not a shotgun person, It say Premier on the receiver.

Says Premier Then it has a recoil pad and a special philips screw with a built in washer
1187 came out in the fall of 1986. I remember since I preordered one and it was delivered in 87

Thanks 3macs1, that explains wrestling to get the screws out of the old recoil pad.
Replacing with a limbsaver.

Like 3macs stated Philips . Use a number 2 Philips use some oil on the screwdriver shaft it will turn easier on the hard pad.
