Just inherited an 1100 and it's rough, stock is dangerously cracked and the internals are going to need a brake cleaner bath. My question though for anyone who knows - are the stocks interchangeable with 1187 furniture? It's going to need a replacement before I even think of taking it out.

Thanks. I've got most of the gas assembly sitting in crud buster right now. The barrel took some "encouragement" to come out and the mag tube/gas assembly is coated is gunk and rust. The action was gritty and slow. This is going to be a project gun for the next little while.

The 11-87 fore end will have a web too thick for the old 1100 barrel. 1187's had LC barrels. No big deal but it will require fitting. I use a piece of 1.5 " dowel wrapped in sand paper until the web is thin enough to go between the barrel and the mag tube. This is for wood 1187 for ends. I think the synthetic ones fit both without fitting.

I have a nice set of Rem 1100 stocks for a 12 gauge that you can have (buy)... It is the walnut Fleur-de-lis style checkering... PM if you are interested and we can work something out...

Sorry for the hi jack but what tools are required to remove the but stock of an 1100? It looks like a long and large flat head screwdriver but checking online its calling for a Butt stock removal tool?
Thanks for the help.

Large slot screwdriver for me... Buttstock removal tool will likely be a nicely fitted properly lengthed slot driver with a large T-handle or something... I'm sure it works well, but so does a giant slot screwdriver. ;)

Big slotted screwdriver is still not wide enough for the slot. What I use is a 3/8 drive drag link socket.

This one isn't mine, just a google image

That's an awesome idea R&R! I've been looking all over for a tool that will work so I don't need to order the one brownells has. Thanks for that!

Yes that or if you don't have one a tire stud iron one with the sloted end with a pair of vice grips clamped tightly on the tire iron. That is all we ever used since they first came out to get the stocks off
Cheers
