I am just about finished the refit of an old shotgun. I bought a used remington 1100 last spring with the intention of building/refitting the gun to resemble the tactical/competition guns Remington was selling last year (2006).
Here it is:
The engravings on the receiver got filled with solder and Durafill then Duracoated Olive Drab Green with the extension while the scope mount, side saddle and other bolt-on parts got Matte Black.

The trigger group assembly got new springs as did the magazine. The old follower came out and was replaced by a Wilson Combat. The safety was swapped for a Vang Comp big head safety. Wood was replaced with a black synthetic set and the butt was later replaced with a Speedfeed IV-S 13" LOP pistol grip stock. The mag extension got an aluminum plug pressed in, so it doesn't allow a sixth round to be loaded. The new bead is a Meprolight Tritium lamp for shotgun bead threads (#6-48). Wilson Combat makes the sling loop on the front of the magazine tube. The engraved chromed breech block got replaced by a chromed non-engraved one I picked-up at a gun show this spring. The tactical charging handle is make by Choate. The scope saddle is a Weaver and the scope is a 42mm Tasco red dot with Butler creek covers and a Sunguard Anti Reflection Device. Lastly, I have a Tac-Star 6rd sidesaddle on the left side on an aluminum plate I made myself. It's the same dimensions as the stock plate, but it has coarse threads (like the scope saddle), so it will attach to the left of the saddle on longer cap screws.
I had fun piecing this project together and learned lots along the way. Really, all that I want to do now is port the barrel and it will be another completed project.
