I've recently seen some photos of this model (hero shots with grouse) and it's not one I've ever considered. Looks like a fine looking shotgun, maybe 20ga? Anyone here have one? Opinions/photos?

Thanks!

Have one in 12ga but not in 20ga
Cheers Joe

^well...I figured as much! :) Do you shoot it Joe, or is it a collector? Are they made in 12 and 20? What about 1100s overall~good guns? I know "good" is a relative term, but my Remington semis have always been recoil-operated 11-48s. Different animal altogether, but seem nearly indestructible too.

I made one out of an 1100 20 LW 26"... use a oiled straight English stock set... beautiful upland gun... took a lot of grouse and woodcock with it... pretty much stick to O/U's now.

Feel myself gravitating to that myself hoyt. I've tried a few dandies....and I seem to shoot them well. Just haven't taken the plunge yet. Maybe too many Remingtons hanging around at the moment. lol I asked my LGS if they carried CZs today, thinking maybe if I held one now it would push me over the edge. I know they sell Brownings...but I know I'm not ready to spend that much at the moment.

No this one is still a new save queen. Early model like maybe 85 with a 21" barrel and a fixed IC choke I think :)
I did have one in 20ga but it was a LT-20 upland special. It was new IC choke and a member here drove me nuts for it until I sold it
Money talked on that one and when he offered 1K I said see ya
Cannot beat an old 1100 IMO. Carry a spare O ring in your wallet and keep them clean and they will do you a life time
Cheers

I added an Lt 20 Remington to the safe a couple years ago.
Modified choke from the factory, 28 '' barrel and only 2-3/4'' is my only drawback .
Not that the extra 1/4'' would stop me from taking it the duck blind, but it certainly handi caps the likes of me when it comes to Canada Geese.
But, I digress...the gun is not the straight English stock that uplanders prefer nor is it one of those really short 22'' ones either.
She does the job though when it comes to either potting grouse as they gravel up and finishes them off as they fly for cover after the first shot.
Federal lead 6's at 30 yrds equals a bird or three in hand ..providing you do your part and follow through with the swing.

I shot a 20g 1100LW for a season. I liked it a lot, but it turned out that the barrel was bent!

They're a nice gun regardless.

My good buddy has one. It's named Mr 2 flaps. Cause that's all the pheasant gets once he flushes.
I had my 1100 cut down to 22" cyl and love the gun but I don't hunt with it. It's just not reliable enough.
I use it on the skeet fields

I've had the 1100 Competition Synthetic for about 10 days now and I really enjoy this thing.
I cant possibly describe the confidence I have with where this gun shoots for me.
I went 25 straight on the trap field on my 5th box through the gun.
It shoots where you think it should and if it doesn't, you can adjust it until it does.
That is not the case with most factory shotguns.

I know it may not appeal to the traditionalists out there but hitting every darn thing you point it at is appealing regardless of your tastes.

There's no reason you couldn't hunt with it.

Dear 1100 Remington upland seeker,

I own an 1100 Remington 95% condition, older model, coned by professional gun smith allowing owner to shoot steel. While this is a twelve gauge bore I have used it many times as a professional guide for upland grouse #### pheasant teal, mallard, etc. Will sacrifice for $550. Thanks for the input guys~greatly appreciated. I've looked at this, the G3 (modern/unusual...but appealing) but keep turning back to my pumps. Getting to be a bit of an 870 mechanic of sorts. (for buddies/family members who don't know what "gun maintenance" means) Still, I like the look of 1100s...but have heard spotty things about reliability. Every time I consider getting one, I remember promising my gun safe that the next shotgun to live in there would be a nice over-under. I've never owned one. That's another thread I suppose. :)
