Hi All,

I plan on using some handloaded 180grain core-lok bullet to 2700ish fps with H414. These will be fired from my old husky or my Rem 7600.

I am wondering how these bullet work compared to the seirra SPBT 180gr?

The coreokt has changed over the years and now isn't much different formthe sierra. The round nose model is a little tougher, but at 2700 fps both should work. Personally I prefer a premium bullet on an animal as big as a moose like a Barnes TSX or partition.

Both in 2004 and 2005, I took bullwinkles with the Rem 180 core lok't bullets; both going down with one shot to the boiler factory.....

It is a bullet that my Rem 700 seems to shoot well so why not use it. They haven't let me down yet.

I push them with 56 grains of H4350 ignited with CCI200 primers.....

Gunsmoke,

I used the Remmy core lockt in 180 with H414 and a CCI250 primer. Was getting about the 2750 mark -- nice tight groups, and good results on moose. Put that bullet through the lungs and you're into the freezer with some great food!

Some will say you need to spend $2 per bullet but don't bet on it, corelockts were dropping moose a long time ago, and provided good expansion at those velocities. I am not a fan of any j-word bullets, but if i were you i avoid any of those "wonder" bullets that are expensive and provide uneven results such as over penetration with a ptd. bullet.
