Is the 1911 the best selling gun out there? I know the Glock is popular, but it seems like every manufacturer has to get in on the 1911 game these days.

(not that I'm complaining...I love my 1911)

Just wait until 2011 - 100 year birthday of the 1911. They will be walking off the shelves, especially in the states. I think other manufacturers will be producing 1911's for next year. There is a rumour about a Ruger 1911 coming out next year too.

Reasonable price, very reasonable. With all of the aftermarket parts available, one could build a very, very nice pistol on this platform. Tempted!

Well, remington makes a great bolt action rifle and shotgun, so I don't see why they would screw up something as fundamental as a 1911. I say that price is really really reasonable.

Do they make the 1911 in house or they are made by someone else for them just like their R-15 and R-25 which are made by Bushmaster and DPMS?

I like the sights on that pistol, GI profile but almost twice as tall, sort of like the early MEUSOC pistols (those sights were custom made by Marine Corps armourers). That gives me an expensive idea.

I'm interested in this it seems good, haven't seen one yet gonna talk to my representative at work, but it should follow the same plans, so should be at least decent from the factory, then again every company makes a lemon, might actually buy one

Very nice looking gun for sure. One of the nicer USGI style 1911's for sure. And priced well, so it seems... I just don't understand why they would make it a series 80 instead of a series 70... Probably on advice from Remington's legal department, no doubt.

The initial reviews on the US forums look positiver so far. I can't wait to see them hit the store shelves here in Canada.

I handled one yesterday in the US. Fit and finish looked very good, but for a couple of sharp edges. The one I looked at had a fairly tight slide to frame fit and the overall appearance was positive.

Unusual combination of old and newer features, decent sights much better than original 1911's but tiny retro thumb safety.

If Milarm can sell them for $625 CAN, that would be great since the US dealer had $699 US on it.

Very tempting to get in on these due to the price point, I'll be upgrading my PAL at the end of the month and am torn between a bunch of pistols. 1911's are just plain ###y and are definitely high on my list. But the review I'm holding here from G&A shows rather... underwhelming accuracy. Especially compared to a Spartan, which you can find for only $125 more if you shop around...

EDIT: It says it's made by E-RPC, LLC which looks like a Remington-owned brand. Also, at this price point with Remington's weight behind it I think it will sell well unless it starts grenading.
