Remington 300 UltraMag Question

I have a 26" Remington stainless barrel in 300 UltraMag. It was removed from a 700 action used for something else. I don't think it has ever been used.

I am trying to figure out what I can use this barrel for. My loading manuals do not show this caliber.

The chamber looks shorter than 300 Win mag. Is is fatter? I am wondering if I could chamber this as a 300 Win Mag?

There appears to be enough straight shank to allow it to be made into 24" fluted 308 Win.

My friend it is much longer and fatter. It is a full length cartridge (off the top if my head 3.600" OAL). Think 300 Weatherby without a belt 30 degree shoulders and a helping of steroids.
3300fps with 180's is easily attainable. You'll need more shank.

Put it up for sale. The 300 RUM has the potential for throat erosion issues, and someone out there is probably looking for a replacement, or to build up a rifle in this caliber.

I believe you had it. Confused with the Short Action Ultra Magnum. It happens.

Looks like an older sendero barrel, it should be a real shooter.
