I recently got my hands on a 2nd generation Remington .338 lapua. Now, I am unable to find concrete and accurate information on removal of the factory Brake. There are definative line that shows it should spin off. Now, some people have said that they are a left hand thread, some people say it is a right hand thread>?? epoxy? Brazed on? It is extremly tight.. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Also, what is recommended for a replacement brake? And where can a guy find them? I do plan on re-barreling and more custom work in the future, but would like something for the time being. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

You have to clamp down your barrel, treat the muzzle break with some propane, the heat will soften up the locktight, then use screw drive X2 into the hold and twisted, it right hand thread, 5/8-24tpi.
there are some after market break that have 5/8-24tpi, give Corlane sporting goood a call, they make some kick ass break.
