benchrest fun matches eh !
for fun matches get a cooper trp3 (I have 3 2 in wood)
I do not want to tell you what is wrong with the 40x until I shoot and sell mine then I confess all,
the TRP3 will get you a nice stock, nice ss barrel, get a trigger and a tuner and it will probably shoot better than you can for 2 years,
(instead of saying I am a jerk-o-la think about it, do you have windflags?
do you have a 800$ front rest, do you have a edgewood rear bag, have you shot free recoil, do you know how to test ammunition properly, and do you like to have ### on wednesdays ?? ) try to smile out there will you guys
not trying to be a smarty pants but,
1. you are shooting CASUAL BR (you want to perform but may not own all the equipment to get the best out of your rifle)
2. I do not know your equipment and if it has been properly prepared (case in point, a husband and wife went to phoenix a couple of weeks ago to shoot in the centerfire BR match called the cactus, their front rest was not "tuned" properly and a friend had to be a bag squeezer for the match instead of using a joystick, hard to do and this couple has shot screamers and competed for 20 plus years SO THE MORAL OF THE STORY IS JUST CAUSE YOU BEEN AROUND DOES NOT MEAN YOU KNOW POOP.
please take this the right way as I have a dozen real rimfire br guns and a dozed centerfire real BR guns and like to travel,
the used market is OK just be careful, try to buy from a known selleer or a known shooter, hopefully they are honest,
I have bought guns in the USA from jody reed, jim williams and others, if you buy right you get right,
if you buy junk you get junk, be careful,
having said that most rimfire br guys are honest, there is a club out your way and not sure who to contact but they may PM you,
have fun and welcome to BR and hang onto your wallet
