My old (early 1950s) Remington 550-1 is not cycling properly. The next round will not feed after a round has been fired.
There's a two piece (appears to be different types of metal with a small spring between them that go through a slotted block about 2 inches long on the bottom of the receiver which seem to be catching on the sides of the slotted block. The moveable two piece mechanism appears to be what feeds the loaded round up from the tube into line so that the bolt will push it forward into the firing chamber after the fired round has been ejected.
The two piece mechanism does not appear to be bent and I've cleaned the rifle carefully, including blowing out the mechanism with compressed air incase a piece of crud is jamming it.
As there anyone out there that has had this problem and knows of a fix.
Thanks,
Da Moose
