So I was looking on Rimfire central, the one guy, EK-marlin had just refinished one.

Said it's supposed to be a accurate gun.

Anyone have experience with one?

Told my Dad and now he's interested in buying one :D

I have one. Buddy has one bought new in the 80s-both very very dependable in the accuracy department. I have so much faith in mine that I had the receiver D&T'd for 541 scope mount blocks. It'll keep up with my 541 all day. Don't pass up a good deal on one. Just wish the bolt, after removal, slid home a little easier. BUT there are left handed ones out there!!

I'm curious about these rifles also, but I'm looking for a 580, the single shot version. They are very much a scaled down 788, including the trigger, I believe aftermarket 788 triggers such as Timney can be made to work in them. They only have one action screw, but again, it sounds relatively simple to add a second, if required. Accuracy is supposed to be very good for a light weight, relatively inexpensive 22lr. Just wish I could find one (580)!

Supposed to be very fast lock time. For a while they were popular for building into silhouette rifles, sometimes with the factory barrel but usually aftermarket. I believe a few people even fit Anschutz triggers.

Parts are a problem and the triggers aren’t the best, 580,581,582,541.
Magazines are all plastic, aftermarket ones junk. Neat gun almost like a miniaturized m788

My very first rifle which my dad purchased for me was a 582 . Fed everything 22 without a hitch and wonderfully accurate . Yes the trigger is a tad heavy . It’s basically a working gun , nothing fancy .
