R597HB comes with a pre-installed weaver base. Remove this, you will find a standard groove for your choice of optics. "The HB’s receiver is drilled and tapped, and comes with an accessory Weaver/Picatinny rail already attached in addition to being grooved to accept some scope rings directly." Technically, you do not need a gunsmith to install a red dot. You just need a little patience in tinkering and a workable mechanical aptitude to zero it against a target.
