OK we bought one! Then the wife saw the mossberg flat top and we bought that too...
Unfortunately we where running close to dusk and it was raining so we could only do limited testing at the local range...
So far I am thoroughly impressed with the Remington the action is really smooth and the magazine release is awesome. I ran a bore snake through it and quickly ran 3 mags through it with not one problem (Walmart bulk Winchester 555). I really like the hold open on empty and I have to say i found it easier to rack and work the action than the ruger take down we had with us ( ruger even had a fte)
The mossberg exceeded my wife's expectations (I am still on the fence)... it seemed to jam a bit, failing to chamber the first rounds we would have to drop the magazine shake the crap out of the gun till the loose round fell out (about 3 times in a row)... could be due to the lack of time we just jammed rounds by hand into the magazine without using the supplied loading tool. But it felt sturdier than i expected and once it was going it was a lot of fun.
All in all I'm glad we bought the Remington so far, time will tell. The mossberg I will need to handle a bit more... but the wife thinks its beautiful and its her gun.
Enjoy the new "toys"!
Now take down the 597... grab some fine sand paper wrapped around a socket(that's slightly larger in dia then the exiting channel in the stock) and work the stock to free-float the barrel.
Well ran about 300 rounds using the supplied 10 round mag and a Remington brand 30 round mag. Only had 3 or 4 failures to chamber and every time it was with the 30 round mag, seemed if I did not load more than 25 it worked flawlessly.
love mine 5000+ rds only real prob is i dont clean it enough tend to run it till it pukes on its own crud, just dont over tighten the op rod set scews finger tight is plenty, they wont fall out in the stock
I bought 5 of the plastic mags. one works as advertised, one wont feed with more than 20 loaded, the other 3 fail regardless of loading quantity. I cant even close the bolt over the clear plactic one. There is some serious quality problems
Got a 2nd mag yesterday, another black polymer 30 round. I could feed 30 rounds in it but when removing the rounds the last three to come out where stuck flat. I took the may apart and turns south the spring was backwards. Flipped it around and everything was alright.
