My 1974 vintage .308 shoots very well. The .222 calibre is more of a plinking and varmint rifle than a hunting rifle so the scope is a limitation. However some people will pay good money for an excellent condition old weaver.

I see people asking kind of ridiculous prices for these but I don't think I'd be willing to pay any more than than $500 absolute max for that package.

I would jump at the chance to buy a Remington 600. It is truly a great strong action. I have one in .308 and it is my most accurate hunting rifle. It shoots 1/2 moa with my reloads. A fair market price from what I can see from the pics. would be $400-$500.
There was a recall on the 600's but if it was not repaired you can still send it to Remington for the recall. Buy it and enjoy

I've got on in 308 and have brought home more big game with it than all my other rifles combined, including big Yukon/Alaska moose. They're a very handly little rifle. One in .222 would make a great walking coyote rifle.

Don`t listen to those other guys, the 600 is crap. Send it to me and i will get rid of it for you.:p Seriously if it`s been looked after it will be fine, maybe update the scope. K4`s were good but on a 222 you could go with a nice 4-12. As for price without seeing what condition i can`t help you, check some dealers used listings for prices.

Was at range that has a gunshop there where 2 600rem used both in very nice shape .243 & .308 both priced at $ 550.00
I have a 600 222 rem same as one in photo, 53gr Sierra MK and 748 win or VT 133 that will shoot 1/4min at 100y if I can do my part. Just order a metal floor plate, the plastic ones that came on rifle new are poor

I once had a Model 600 in 308. It was the noisiest gun I ever shot. Once when I came from the range a couple of shooters asked me what kind of a magnum I was using.
That barrel was just too short for any heavy calibre. At the range I used plugs and muffs, still made my ears ring.
There was no way I would fire even one round from it with no ear protection, so would not take it hunting and sold it.
Anyone willing to ignore the noise, or think I am over-doing it, should read the current thread on ears damaged by noise, "How long my ears---," in the General Firearms section.
