I just bought a Remington 700 sps tac.i have a vortex pst 4-16x50 ffp. I want to be able to still sight in at 100 yards .the scope says it's got 75 moa of adjustment and to shoot out to 1000 yards I need to come up 35.8 moa. Should I put on a 20 or 40 moa rail ?

If it was mine I would want a 40 MOA rail for that application.
Ideally you want the max elevation offset to fall in the middle of the adjustment range of the optic.
That permits max windage at the longest distance.

Windage adjustments are more constrained at the far ends of the elevation adjustment range.

With your setup it will be a close thing if you can make a 100 yd zero and a 40 MOA rail.

If you get stuck you may need to shim the rail a bit to give say a 35 MOA offset.

Your scope and a 20 minute rail will give you 100yd zero and crosshairs past 1000.
If you go 40, you'll lose your zero.

I split the difference at 30moa, 20 in the rail 10 more in the rings. My scope has 80, I'm zeroed at 100 with 4 minutes to spare.
Same rifle btw.
