I've got a line on who's bringing in the first batch of 338 Lapuas from Remington not to mention an optional Rock Creek rebarrel straight out of the box. I'll be testing the first one of the 10 that comes in and let everyone know.

Well, do tell? Not a very informative first post. Who's the dealer/distributor bringing it in first then? Certainly, American demand will be spoken for first.

Most other web sites are reporting a late fall delivery in the USA. That may likely be late winter or early spring for us by the time new US export certificates are issued.

what's the big attraction to a Rem 700 in 338 Lapua?....isn't the 338 RUM close enough?....I don't get it...

somebody enlighten me please...

I'm with you... the .338 Lapua craze is ridiculous...

back up to a .340 Weatherby in a 26 inch barrel as far as I am concerned...

It's the cache, man...;)

I was reading an article lately about how they've tested the 338Lapua and since it's naturally an accurate caliber (which is more important then one might think) it's also got a predictable tradgetory as well. 50cal shooters know that all too well. The article mentioned too be able to punch through 12mm of armour out to 500meters. The 26" barrel, like I said can be swapped out for a barrel up to 31" but a 29" barrel will give the long distance results everyones looking for.
Also the bullets you use to punch holes in paper while you're doing your load testing will be a 300gr Sierra Match bullet but also an awesome big game killer past 400yds when the bullets stablize and not just zip through the animal. Of course bullet placement is everything but being a little bit slower moving bullet (300gr) the barrel will last longer then shooting some of the faster comparative guns like mentioned. If you don't know already who is bringing them in, PM me and I'll give you more info.
Thanks for all your input. Anyone reading this thread for the first time will definitely learn lots about long range precision rifles and that's what it's all about.

PGW makes a great gun. I've read a lot about them but the only guys getting anything out of PGW are the military and quite frankly I'm not about to let the kind of money they're asking for their guns not collect interest in my bank account while waiting for one of their guns to show up on my door step if you know what I mean.
Hats off to them putting quality built guns into the hands of some of the best snipers this planet has to offer, but that doesn't help any member of this site. I'm going all out and getting a Nesika action brought in to be mated with a Ron Smith barrel dropped into a McMillan stock finished off with an SN-3 T-Pal scope painted up by whoever "the Man who shall not be named" chooses because I trust the work he's done for me in the past.

I heard a rumour that Nesika filed for protection recently.

On another topic our mystery man is building my rifle as well, wouldn't get anyone else (338/300 RUM).
