Hey I am wondering if anyone knows where a guy could get a longer front action screw for a Remington 700?
I installed a Bell & Carlson stock and the front action screw is slightly too short.
Has anyone had this issue before?

I had to use the washers off the Remington stock to have it fit right , have read about others using the washers to get the floorplate flush as well .

I noticed when installing a B&C on my Tikka T3 that the front screw had slightly less engagement than it did with the original stock. Not enough to worry about...I think...but I got a longer one from an industrial fastener supply place and dressed it down till it had a similar engagement to the factory screw/stock set-up. In ended up about 2 threads longer than the stock screw.

I've noticed it with a number of stock swaps over the years, not limited to a particular brand of rifle or stock. Not a big deal, easy to fix once you locate a replacement screw. If you can, buy a matching nut at the same time, and thread it on before dressing or cutting the replacement. Makes it easy to get a nice start to the threads by just unscrewing/removing the nut after you shorten the screw.

Be careful that you do not install a screw that is too long in that position. It may make contact with
the bolt lug, and cause problems until you shorten it slightly.

Dave.

Check Brownell's. They have both blued and SS in various lengths. Order a whole bunch of other small stuff to make the most out of your shipping cost. Keep it under $100 if you can.
