Have a 788 Rem and a Mohawk.. both in .308 and 18.5 inch and was wondering if any of the longer 700 Rem takeoff barrels in .308 and .243 commonly seen in the EE for sale would fit these 2 actions as a straight screw on proposition by a gunsmith.....thx.

700 barrels will fit the Mohawk but not the 788...
the 788 is an abomination of a rifle that deviates greatly from the 721/722/725/700/Sportsman 78/673/Seven pattern of barrel threading and installation.
