I'm really interested on it, want to know what to expect...is it a good long range rifle? MOA? How does it stack up to the 700 police? Is the 300 magnum a good cartridge to start with long range firing?

My advice is to save a little extra money and buy a Remington 700 LTR if you're hooked on that cartridge. Rifle #5681 .

.300 Magnum a good long range cartridge to start with? Not a chance. Buy a .308 Winchester 700P and don't look back. It's pretty much a no-brainer. I bought a Rem 700 Sendero in 7mm Rem. Mag. as my first heavy barrel target rifle and regret having not bought the .308 VS or 700P first.

Since that time I've bought a .308 Win Rem 700 VSF and I shoot it far more than my Sendero.

Just a thought.

depends on what model of 700 it is. all can be accurate, but models like the Sendero would tend to shoot better than a regular BDL.

the 300 SAUM is certainly capable. has enough case capacity to drive 190 grainers at good speed.

if you dont handload, walk on by...
