Remington 700 BDL with 4 digit Serial # 78**
.222 cal
Reciever is factory machined for a stripper clip
20" Barrel with sights
Does anyone know the value or the rarity of these?

Thanks

Is it actually machined for stripper clips, or is there just a cut out where a clip loading slot would be?
All early 700s have a cut in the front edge of the bridge.
Very early 700s would likely have some collector appeal, if in very fine condition.

Collector value is totally dependant on condition and finding someone who collects 700's.

Last year I sold one milled the same way in excellent condition in 308 for $600.

It really is not milled to accept stripper clips... but it does have a milled area that looks like it is for stripper clips.

With a 4 digit serial number it's definitely first year of production from '62..and all standard caliber 700's were 20" for the first year or two.
I've owned 700's from as late as '66 with the square cut in the rear bridge.

I was in the gun business when the 700s had 20 inch barrels.
It sure cut down their sales appeal.
