Can anyone point me in the right direction for a synthetic lightweight stock to replace the factory wood one? Gun is a remington 700CDL SF chambered in 7mm-08......Thanks!

There are many choices: Basner, Brown, McMillan, Wildcat (Canadian), Robertson (Canadian), HS Precision and Bell & Carlson all make some nice stocks.

McMillan is very popular, but there is quite a wait to get one in your hands.

I have the same rifle - it's a beauty! I also swapped wood for synthetic. A fellow cgn'r had an XCR stock we swapped. It's nice. Keep an eye on the equipment exchange,

The factory Remington synthetics are junk, except for the heavy ones made by HS Precision and the ones that came on the Titaniums. Keep your eye on the EE or place a WTB ad.
You can sell your wood stock for probably around $150 on the EE to recover some costs.

I have used Wildcat stocks which weigh 21 oz finished with a recoil pad and swivel studs. If you are at all good with your hands this is a good choice. HS stocks are very rigid but at least as heavy as wood so they are not suited for your use.

I'd go with a McMillan Edge if you want light. Expect to pay about $600, like mentioned above you should be able to sell your walnut for around $100-150.
